Lots of fun for everyone this summer!
Are you ready for a summer of fun? South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils have organised a summer packed full of fun free and low-cost activities for the whole family to enjoy!
Starting Monday 24 July and running through to Friday 1 September activities will be taking place across the districts to ensure nobody misses out on the opportunity to get involved.
Whether you like exploring the great outdoors, taking part in fitness classes, table tennis, or unwinding with some light yoga, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s just a few of the highlights for children and families over the summer holidays:
- This year the Didcot Garden Party is back, and the councils Active Communities team we will be running a variety of events and activities as part of that around Didcot and local villages including the Community Keeping Active Day at the Civic Hall on the 10 August, plus table tennis, dance and activities the whole family can join in with.
- One of the most popular activities for the summer is the family friendly navigation challenge, Xplorer. Explore the park to find the hidden markers. This summer Xplorer will be in Abingdon, Didcot, Cholsey, Faringdon, Harcourt Hill, Kingston Bagpuize and Watlington.
- Real play is also back with a number of sessions in Didcot and Faringdon. This is a great activity for kids from 3 – 5 years old. It encourages families to learn and play together and will ensure your little ones are kept entertained.
Cllr Maggie Filipova-Rivers Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing at South Oxfordshire District Council said: “Keeping children entertained over the summer holidays can often seem like a daunting task especially with the financial challenges many are currently facing, so we have organised lots of free activities for the whole family to enjoy.”
Cllr Helen Pighills Cabinet Member for Community Health and Wellbeing at Vale of White Horse District Council said: “We have a summer packed of fun free and low-cost activities for children and adults to enjoy this summer. Whether you like spending time outdoors or taking part in fitness activities, we’re sure you’ll find an activity to keep your family busy over the holidays.”
