A statement from Cllr Emily Smith, Leader of the Vale of White Horse District Council
We support Ansaf Azhar, Oxfordshire County Council’s Director for Public Health’s message on the importance of continuing to follow the lockdown guidelines.
Whilst the daily rate of new Covid-19 figures can fluctuate, figures for the whole of Oxfordshire remain high, hospitalisations and deaths are rising, and as we know this new variant is extremely infectious. We therefore we need to be even more careful.
Please don’t flex the rules – only by following the rules carefully can we protect ourselves and our communities. Along with the rest of Oxfordshire, all of us in the Vale must make sure we’re acting on the NHS’s pleas to stay at home and avoid mixing with other households to curb the rapid spread of Covid-19. Stark figures for our county show things will not improve unless we all observe the lockdown rules in full.
If you need any financial or practical support to enable you to stay at home safely please get in touch with the South and Vale Community Hub. It’s vital that communities continue to help each other and help keep each other safe.
