Free fun for all at The Beacon’s Open Day
The Beacon Open Day is returning this year for an afternoon full of free family fun on Sunday 25 June.
Get a taste of different events and activities that take place at The Beacon in Wantage, which is managed by Vale of White Horse District Council, and activities in the wider local community.
As part of the open day martial arts experts, dance class teachers and football groups will be demonstrating some of the skills that can be learnt in their weekly classes that people can book onto.
Children can enjoy face painting, hair braiding and join in music-making fun courtesy of Boogie Mites and Bumps and Beyond, weekly family groups at The Beacon.
Some of Wantage’s local charities and businesses will be holding stalls and joining the fun. These include children’s cancer charity, Team Mikayla, and the Vale of White Horse District Council’s wellbeing experts, Active Communities.
Visitors on the day can meet the Faringdon Police team, see inside their police vans, and learn about crime prevention.
The Beacon Bar will be serving drinks and snacks and a local ice cream van will be selling a variety of tasty treats outside.
Cllr Helen Pighills Cabinet Member for Community Health and Wellbeing at Vale of White Horse District Council said: “We’re excited that The Beacon Open Day is returning this year with even more free activities. There are lots of things for people to get involved with on the day and information about local groups and classes that people can join.”
Cllr Debra Dewhurst Cabinet Member for Leisure Centres and Community Buildings at Vale of White Horse District Council said: “We hope everyone will be able to come along and see The Beacon’s fantastic facilities, events and classes. I am looking forward to joining the fun with my family.”
