Ride Revolution
Welcome to Ride Revolution, a new pilot project for residents in Abingdon.
Ride Revolution uses unwanted bikes through donation, from scrapyards and recycling centres and restores them alongside our partner organisations so that they can be given to disadvantaged children and families and those with long term health conditions so help them get more active.
As well as helping residents to keep active the project will also give them the knowledge and confidence to ride safely and keep their bike in good working order.
We will work alongside a number of partner organisations in Oxfordshire to support children and families who may not have access to a bike and will teach them to learn how to ride plus, provide them with access to equipment and free cycling tuition where needed.
Pedal Power in Abingdon are supporting us to provide locks, lights and helmets for riders that don’t have them.
Organisations that can refer residents to the Ride Revolution project include:
- Soha and Sovereign Housing
- Schools
- GPs
- And the council’s Move Together and YouMove programmes

Once the bikes are no longer needed, we can work on them again and give them to another person looking to get more active.

Ride Revolution will be reviewed after a year and if successful Vale of White Horse District Council hopes to be able to roll the project out to other areas in the district.
